DESCRIPTION:Jonathan has been invited by the Country Roads Health Centre to lead their staff and team through an afternoon of listening and learning.  \n\n\n\nThe Blanket Exercise is an interactive history lesson\, it’s a history many of us were not taught growing up. It’s the story of how we went from a time when Indigenous people used all the land we now call Canada to a reality in which reservations today (below the 60th parallel) make up less than one half of one percent of our country’s landmass. The Blanket Exercise has been around for over twenty years\, and is now often taught in public schools. It was created by a group of indigenous elders\, educators and allies in response to the 1996 Royal Commission of Aboriginal Peoples. The Blanket Exercise is constantly being updated and is now in its 6th Edition. The Canadian ecumenical organization KAIROS is responsible for the Blanket Exercise’s care and continuing development.

Just as mushers raced to carry the serum to those villages in Western Alaska\, Carry The Cure (CTC) races to carry a message of life\, hope and love to save youth and others from acts of self harm. In each village we present our “committed to life” suicide prevention school assembly. Then\, in the evening\, Broken Walls hosts a community concert. As Broken Walls\, we enthusiastically share our own music and message to offer hope\, restoration and unity to Indigenous people throughout the world. \n\n\n\nIt is extremely expense travelling to these remote communities\, if you’d like to support this tour and outreach please go HERE.
