The West Coast Rumble Music Festival Kingdom Pow Wow was from August 17th to 20th at the Hirsch Creek Campground in Kitimat, B.C. Jonathan Maracle and Bill Pagaran were two of the speakers, and Kris DeLorenzi joined them on bass guitar. Also participating were Rita Bear Gray, Gerard and Peta-Gay Roberts (Okama), and Brian Houston. Art and Heather Lucier hosted this great event.
It was an amazing event even though it rained every day. This did not dampen the spirits of the people who filled the tents on the field.
One native man shared how when he heard the drum in worship, he knew in this heart that this would call his people to Jesus. As Broken Walls played Wave, everyone danced with joy and the love was written on their faces. They danced their prayers for the healing of the land and it’s people.
Jonathan Maracle shared a great word and Bill Pagaran gave a word of exhortation after playing an amazing drum solo. Rita Bear Gray gave a compelling and powerful word to raise us up and call us forth.
One participant said this about her time there. “We feel so deeply blessed by our time at the Kingdom Pow Wow. It was such a beautiful opportunity to be a part of reconciliation and healing for the First Nations people of these lands. We feel that we are coming away from this experience changed. My heart and spirit have been touched.”
Broken Walls was honoured to be a part of this event and we have received several invitations to return.
